Van Buren State Park

Description

This Lake Michigan beach consists of one mile of sandy-stone. It's used mainly for swimming, sunbathing, and walking. Most visitors come in June, July, and August; summer air temperatures can range from the mid-60s to the upper 80s. Amenities include picnic tables, grills, and modern restrooms that are open between April 15 and Labor Day. The campgrounds open April 1 and close November 30. Some handicapped-accessible sites are available. The park is situated quite close to South Haven with all this town's activities and opportunities, including several annual festivals and public boat launch facilities and marinas. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted. Reservations and requirements: Michigan has a central reservation phone number for all state campgrounds: 800-447-2757. There is a fee for each reservation made. Most parks also require a Motor Vehicle Permit (MVP); daily permits may be purchased at any state park or recreation area.
