Wadsworth Atheneum

Description

Highlights of America’s oldest continually operating public art museum (since 1844) include a large collection of Hudson River School paintings; American fine and decorative art spanning myriad styles and periods; European Baroque, Renaissance, and Impressionist paintings; and an impressive collection of contemporary American and European art. The 7,500-piece Costume & Textiles collection has everything from gowns to drawings to notions. A gift shop and a café round out the offerings.
