Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site

Description

While it seems like you can't find room to swing a cat in Wyoming without hitting a Wild West museum, Laramie's is one of the biggest and best. Its centerpiece is the restored Wyoming Territorial Prison, originally built in 1872. Other buildings include a mercantile and saloon. Look for an exhibit on Steamboat, the bucking horse depicted on the state license plate. The Horse Barn displays rotating exhibits. During Butch Cassidy Days, the site hosts reenactors. Call for hours and admission prices.
