Description

On this trip through Louisiana's Plantation Country, seven resplendent plantations in and around the village of St. Francisville, Louisiana, are open for visiting and for overnight stays. While slave quarters and other outbuildings can be quite simple, the main houses are often filled with antiques and opulent furnishings. The Cottage, Butler-Greenwood Plantation, and Myrtles are just three places to stay on your Louisiana Plantation Country road trip. Historic St. Francisville has a collection of shops, homes, and restaurants; when dining out, try local favorites like the muffaletta sandwich and shrimp or crawfish po'boy. Across the Mississippi River and south of St. Francisville is Pointe Coupee Parish, home to the largest collection of Creole French architecture in the U.S. Drive along the scenic False River to check out traditional Creole Louisiana plantation homes, including Mon Reve, a bed-and-breakfast, and Parlange Plantation.
