Alaska is twice the size of Texas and home to the tallest peak in North America. However, it ranks near the bottom of the list of states in population, highway miles, and motor vehicles. The southeastern quadrant, covered by this tour, houses the majority of the state's people, cars, and highways. Begin your trip in Whitehorse, the capital of Canada's legendary Yukon Territory. Continue the trip by driving northwest on the Alaskan Highway. Stop to see Fairbanks, where you can venture to the mining village, arts and craft shops, and take in Eskimo and Indian culture. Leave Fairbanks heading south where you'll stop in Denali National Park, home of Mount McKinley, the continent's largest peak, on your way to Anchorage.
