Description

Grab your sunglasses and embark upon a trip to Alaska's far north to get your dose of the Midnight Sun. The 415-mile gravel road follows the northern portion of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline all the way north to Prudhoe Bay. Pass the Arctic Circle and check out Fairbanks, the only city you'll see on your trip. In Fairbanks, take in the colorful Northern Lights and enjoy more than 20 hours of daylight. If you're visiting in July check out the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics. Next, for the kids, take a side trip to the North Pole, famous as the home of Santa Claus. Continue farther north on the Elliott Highway until you reach North Slope Haul Road (the only road you'll see from here on). Here's your chance to see untrammeled wilderness and wildlife, including moose, caribou, and bear.
