Description

You'll see subtle rolling ridges, mystery-laden hollows, and haze rising blue from forested valley floors. Simple, two-lane blacktop highways hug Earth's contours. Brown County, only 40 miles south of Indianapolis, has long attracted artists and craftspeople to its intangible beauty. One hundred years ago the American Impressionists of the Hoosier school migrated here to capture the land in watercolors and oils. Today, the land they saw remains largely the same. Tens of thousands flock here to see the changing fall colors and to shop for antiques and crafts in the hundreds of galleries and shops that you'll find in the tiny village of Nashville. Except for that busy time of year, this is a place for peace and contemplation of a classic American landscape.
