Marylanders don’t like to call winter off-season. Winter may be a step slower, but the summer amenities are still there and they cost less. At any time of the year wild ponies roam Assateague Island, Harborplace in Baltimore hops, and costumed interpreters give tours at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. There is one caveat: Since the beaches are closed, you will have to swim in an indoor pool. To see it all, follow the road signs on US 5.
