"Vermont" is the English translation of two French words: "vers" meaning "green" and "mont" meaning "mountain," which is exactly what you will see along this tour. Hike the Appalachian Trail and stay at world-renowned Stowe Mountain Resort. Visit Green Mountain National Forest that spans an impressive 353,000 acres that stretches across 160 miles of the state. Hike along 500 miles of trails, the two best-known being the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail, or go snow-shoeing and dog-sledding. Venture through White Rock National Recreation Area, popular for hiking as well. To finish this trip, drive just south of the Canadian border to Alburg. Here, visit the famed Hyde Log Cabin, thought to be the oldest wooden structure of its kind in the U.S.
