Description

On this tour through the Yukon, wilderness and natural habitat will be abundant. At White Pass you'll go through Canadian customs. Pass through Carcross, shortened from "Caribou Crossing" as you travel north to Whitehorse, the capital city. The city's population of 20,000 undoubtedly makes Whitehorse the most populated community in the Yukon. On Lambert Street you'll spot two- and three-story structures known to the community as the city's log skyscrapers. Stop at Takhini Hot Springs, "to take the waters," for a relaxing swim. As you venture north, you won't need the cash in your wallet; you'll have ample opportunity to pan for gold. While you may not strike it rich, you're almost guaranteed to find some---and, gold dust is still accepted as payment in these parts. Finish your trip in Teslin, where you can visit the George Johnston Museum to learn about the native Tlingit people.
