Staunton is a picturesque Victorian town with wonderful eateries, sweet shops and a friendly downtown. It is home to unique museums and attractions such as the American Shakespeare Center, the Frontier Culture Museum, and the Woodrow Wilson Birthplace and Library. Don't miss the many live music choices available from bluegrass to rock to jazz to classical. Also, Staunton sits right in the middle of Virginia's premier 'sustainable' farming country. We love it here! Come visit!
Excellent and such a unique quality to the town. Rooted in the past but keeping current.
Everyone should go there
After traveling and photographing the world, we chose our Hometown of Staunton, VA to retire and continue living. The beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, mild four seasons, and beautiful downtown you will love Staunton.
Staunton won my family's collective after we spent about 8 years driving around on weekends, looking for where we wanted to move to in order to escape I-95 and the Beltway. After discovering Staunton, we made repeated trips back to be sure out we really, really wanted to move there. Seven years after the 'big move,' our only regret is that we didn't make our decision earlier. The town in beautiful, friendly, and--as a college town--has much more to do than most small towns. Don't move here, though--we want to keep it small and charming! :)
I moved to Staunton in the late 90's but left after three years due to my job. I lived in several other small towns afterward but I eventually made my way back to Staunton. No other town that I lived in had the quality of life, the beautiful buildings, the scenery or the variety of restaurants that Staunton offers. I've been back 6 years and love it!
