Park City, Utah was founded in 1869, originally as a silver-mining town. It only took a few decades for the town’s population to boom to 10,000 residents in the early 1900s. The Park City Museum offers historic walking tours for those interested in the town’s rich mining history. Park City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, where Main Street was the place to be with boundless entertainment. Thousands of locals volunteered to take part in the event.
Recreation-wise, Park City has the basics and more covered. In addition to its several wooded trails, its golf course is consistently ranked as one of the best in the region, while an ice arena and racquet club draws both residents and visitors. Skateboard parks and multi-use recreational parks are also an option.
The spot is also known for the Sundance Film Festival, which has been held in Park City for almost 29 years. This festival takes place every January and lasts for 10 days.
Summers are popular in Park City, when free outdoor concerts are plentiful. There are also international biking competitions in warmer months, as well as a Park City Marathon. Arts and music festivals are great for family-friendly entertainment. No matter the season, the Park City website assures “you’ll never run out of things to do here.”
Love the area, great food and you can't beat the ice cream shop!
There is ALWAYS something fun to do in Park City - hundreds of miles of trails, skiing, ice skating, festivals every summer weekend - we are lucky and spoiled. We're happy to say if you're lucky enough to live in Park City, you're lucky enough!
Park City is magical! My first daughter was born here in the 70's and I have now lived there three more times in my life! We are aligning ourselves to retire in this absolutely beautiful ski town! A bucket list must!
Summer has finally arrived here, just in time to offer a warm welcome to our road rally team, Traveling Jules and Traveling Joan. The best part of a Park City summer, every night there is a free outdoor concert somewhere in town, by both talented local musicians and fun visiting musicians. Good music, good food, good friends, good fun.
