Rapid City, SD hosts both Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial, two must-see national landmarks. The town is as beautiful as it is patriotic, surrounded by the Black Hills, and is the home of Ellsworth AFB.

For a combination of history and beauty take in the scenery on Skyline Drive and visit the Berlin Wall exhibit, the Chapel in the Hills, the Badlands, and bronze statues of all of America’s presidents.

Visitors should take advantage of Downtown Rapid City. In addition to shopping and dining, the area is the Black Hills’ hub for local and regional art. Museums, numerous galleries, and a historic theatre are all located within a few blocks of each other downtown.

Not only does Rapid City sit at the edge of the beautiful Black Hills; which puts you a short drive from hiking, mountain biking, fishing, rock climbing and horseback riding to name a few; it has a sometimes rowdy and fun filled attitude teaming with nightlife.

Rapid City has some beautiful buildings, artwork, and parks. I lived there for 7 years and had some great experiences there taking in all the art. I especially like the murals around several bridges and art alley, where pretty much anyone can add their art. Lots to see and do there!

Rapid City is the place to see Presidential statues on most corners of downtown. It is also the gateway to the Black Hills where you can visit Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, as well as see a lot of natural beauty and fun places to visit. Plenty to do for kids as well as adults-from adventuring rock climbers, mountain bikers, and casual strolling folks.
