Description

The 2011 Friendliest Small Town in America returned with food and wine that blew our team away. We met chefs from Pho Sho, Andrae’s Kitchen, and The Marc, who prepared custom sampler dishes and students in Walla Walla Community College’s Culinary Program who paired dishes with wine from Woodward Canyon and Leonetti Cellar. The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance organized an amazing afternoon for our team warmly reminding us of their friendliness.

Our favorite local restaurants included Maple Counter Café, Saffron, Brasserie Four, The Marc and T. Maccarone’s, all must-stops on a visit to one of our favorite small towns. Tour and taste at local vineyards from Walla Walla Vintners to Blue Mountain Vineyards, Waterbrook Winery, Spring Valley Vineyard and Lullaby Winery.

In addition to food and wine, Walla Walla is renowned for its art, music and theater. Browse any of a dozen galleries, catch a symphony or jazz performance, or attend a show at a local college. For history tour the historic downtown’s architecture and antique shopping, The Whitman Mission, and Fort Walla Walla for a feel of the 1800s.

Walla Walla’s abundant outdoor offerings can’t be overlooked, from camping, boating and swimming to area parks, athletic facilities and walking trails. Visitors can hunt and fish, ski, bike, ice skate or play softball, tennis, racquetball and golf. See what else Walla Walla has to offer in users' reviews.

Walla Walla is your classic slice of Americana. With an award winning downtown, world renowned wineries, amazing scenery and much more, Walla Walla is the perfect destination for your next business, family or solo trip.

Growing up in small town Walla Walla I've been able to see the town just grow along with me. It has become a vibrant and beautiful town to visit and live. You can find a small bit of everything in the area.

The town has amazing history. The downtown area has been restored to its original glory. I live in a mansion that was built in 1876 in which the president stayed on his journey her to sign the peace treaty with the Indians in 1880. I have restored this beautiful mansion and have a boutique hotel for the wine tasters to stay. Walla Walla has been voted America's new wine capital. The mansion has been in my family for nearly 80 years. The most amazing piece of trivia about this mansion is that only ladies have owned it down through history. Only twice did it fall into mens hands, which during those times it was not successful. We have so much to offer here in Walla Walla. We have two universities and one college, wine vineyards and onions, and most important home-town pride.

In addition to stately and unique architecture, three colleges, world-renown wines, beautiful city parks, an amazing collection of public art, and divine dining, Walla Walla has incredibly friendly residents. Strike up a conversation on the streets of downtown, ask for recommendations for eating, or just chat about life - you're guaranteed to enjoy yourself
