Description

Lewiston’s proximity to Niagara Falls in the Niagara River region makes for a mix of outdoor recreation, history, shopping and food and wine. While a trip to the falls is a must, the Niagara River provides the perfect setting for picnicking, hiking and white water rafting. Visitors often come to boat and fish as well, with biking, cross-country skiing, Frisbee golf and swimming also available.

At Niagara Falls take a boat tour on the famed Maid of the Mist or aim for an aerial view with a helicopter ride. Then head to the Niagara County Wine Trail where over a dozen wineries offer tours, tastings and year round events. Visit in July for the Annual Wine and Culinary Festival or September for Harvest Fest, amongst others.

Lewiston has a rich history for its role in the War of 1812 and the Underground Railroad. Tour Old Fort Niagara or The Lewiston Museum to go back in time, or visit one of three local theatres and Artpark in the summers for entertainment and creativity showcased. Our Lady of Fatima Shrine is another cultural attraction with scenic and spiritual significance.

Most importantly, Lewiston’s dining is enough of a draw on its own. Our team’s favorite stops included Orange Cat Coffee Company, Tommy George’s Village Coffee House, Mangia Café and Bakery, Village Bake Shoppe, Brickyard, Apple Granny, Hibbard’s Custard, Macri’s Italian Garden and six other fantastic finds. See where locals love to eat in Lewiston’s reviews.

Lewiston is a great choice for foods. Lots of diverse selections and definitely doesn't break the budget.

By far one of the most beautiful, friendly, and historic towns in the country, Lewiston has something to offer for everyone. Art, music, history, sports, more festivals than you can even imagine, and food...oh yes, food. From the mixed eggs at the Villa coffee shop, specialty burgers at the Village Pub, Apple Granny's for the best fish fry you'll ever eat, Hibbards custard, Orange Cat coffee and scones, Carmelos for upscale, farm fresh haute cuisine, DiCamillos italian bread, The Village Bake shop for coffee, gelato, and delicious cookies and cakes, BBQ at the Brickyard, fresh clams and live music with the best view around at Waterstreet Landing, and hot dogs and sweet potato fries at the Silo...Lewiston has something for everyone. Add in free concerts, live theatre, and big name headliners at Art Park, the history of the underground railroad, fishing and boating on the beautiful Niagara River, or just a stroll down quaint Center St....I can't imagine another town in America that has so much to offer for so little money. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely village, I promise you it will become a favorite destination of yours forever.

Our little village has just about the best food anywhere. People who have had to leave this area can't wait to get back to enjoy the many delicacies that this area has to offer including beer battered fish fries, beef on kummelweck, pizza, bbq and REAL chicken wings (not what the rest of the country calls "Buffalo wings". We pretty much have it all and do it well.
