Rapid City, SD hosts both Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial, two must-see national landmarks. The town is as beautiful as it is patriotic, surrounded by the Black Hills, and is the home of Ellsworth AFB.

For a combination of history and beauty take in the scenery on Skyline Drive and visit the Berlin Wall exhibit, the Chapel in the Hills, the Badlands, and bronze statues of all of America’s presidents.

Visitors should take advantage of Downtown Rapid City. In addition to shopping and dining, the area is the Black Hills’ hub for local and regional art. Museums, numerous galleries, and a historic theatre are all located within a few blocks of each other downtown.

Sure, everyone knows about Mount Rushmore, (make sure to stick around for the flag ceremony at the end of the night. It'll give anyone goosebumps) but equally impressive is the City of Presidents downtown. It's great fun taking in the statues of our presidents (with more to be added this year.)

Rapid City offers some of the most beautiful scenery and aromas, from the moment you arrive in town you will smell the sweet scent of cherry blossoms and fresh wildflowers. The amount of luscious green trees and rolling valleys appeal to all eyes. Nestled at the foot of the Black Hills, Rapid City has a front row view of the vast hills and lush pines.

The moment I stepped foot off the plane in Rapid City I was greeted by some of the friendliest and happy people I have ever encountered. The way they take care of your needs, and make you feel as if you’re the most important person through their business door is so genuine. They pay attention to your needs and make sure that your satisfaction is number one. I have never been treated so well by locals when on vacation. Seems that they take pride in their hometown and wants everyone to feel that way while they are visiting.

I had so much fun exploring the downtown area of Rapid City that we lost track of time and almost missed dinner. The trolley was such a good time, my family hasn't had that much fun in a long time. We made sure to explore all of the free childrens parks, like Storybook Island and Dinosaur Hill... The kids haven't had that much fun in a long time, and the best part, it's free!
