Description

Kentucky’s birthplace, Danville is a city full of firsts. The town has preserved Constitution Square where the state’s constitution was signed and re-built replica buildings from the time that visitors can tour. Stop by the historic Ephraim McDowell House and The Old Jail to step back in time.

Danville’s rich history includes several educational firsts from the first college and law schools in the West to the first state-funded School for the Deaf and first black home school in the county. Today the town’s the home of Centre College, a leading liberal arts school and host to the previous and upcoming vice presidential debates.

The small town is proud of its locally-owned restaurants, micro-breweries and shops. Start your day at The Hub Coffee Shop and end it at Mermaid’s, with stops at staples like Beer Engine, Red Rooster Café, Burke’s Bakery, Bluegrass Pizza and Pub or Pioneer Playhouse throughout your stay.

Visit in May to attend the annual Lawn Chair Film Festival, September for Eat Drink Danville and Oktoberfest, or November for the Kentucky BBQ Festival and Hogs and Logs Team Triathlon. For more of what’s going on in Danville, check out its reviews.

Danville is a great place to live. The people are great, the schools are wonderful and you know your neighbors! It truly is "Better Here"!

I personally think that Danville, Ky is the Best Small Town in America. Danville is a small, friendly place. Its beautiful downtown area is full of beautiful historical buildings, that not only hold a lot of history but they have a lot of character.

Danville was a wonderful town to grow up in and it has retained its charm through the years while still being a progressive community. It is the home of Centre College which adds many cultural events to the town. The old southern homes have all been maintained beautifully and along with beautiful trees/landscaping make Danville the most beautiful small town in America.

I left Danville when I was 24 years old and ever since I have talked about moving back. There is no better place than my hometown. A few years back I brought my husband to visit my family that still resides there and he has been talking about moving there ever since. We find ourselves comparing other small towns to Danville, but none compare. I am proud to call Danville my home town.

A VERY PROGRESSIVE SMALL COLLEGE TOWN WITH EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT AT THE COLLEGE's NORTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS. THE CENTRAL KENTUCKY LOCATION IS WITHIN A SHORT DRIVE OF LEXINGTON, LOUISVILLE, CINCINNATI, OH AND KNOXVILLE, TN. A WONDERFUL PLACE TO LIVE AND RAISE A FAMILY.
