Rapid City, SD hosts both Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial, two must-see national landmarks. The town is as beautiful as it is patriotic, surrounded by the Black Hills, and is the home of Ellsworth AFB.

For a combination of history and beauty take in the scenery on Skyline Drive and visit the Berlin Wall exhibit, the Chapel in the Hills, the Badlands, and bronze statues of all of America’s presidents.

Visitors should take advantage of Downtown Rapid City. In addition to shopping and dining, the area is the Black Hills’ hub for local and regional art. Museums, numerous galleries, and a historic theatre are all located within a few blocks of each other downtown.

Rapid City is surrounded by beauty, with pine covered hills and bluffs visible from the outskirts, and indeed, even from downtown. Those with a penchant for hiking will appreciate the many local trails that provide wonderful nature walks and breathtaking views.

Rapid City is in the beautiful Black Hills which are a sacred place. Having grown up there I know the beauty and serenity of the Hills. It is a special place, a hidden jewel. It is amazingly artsy with galleries in Rapid City and surrounding towns throughout the Hills.

I love Rapid! The restaurants here, especially in the downtown area, bring an eclectic, energetic, elegant atmosphere to our great Small Town!

From the presidential statues lining the downtown streets of Rapid City to the short, 20 minute drive to Mt. Rushmore, Rapid City feels like a place unlike any other I have ever visted. Add to that the fact that Ellsworth AFB, home of the B-1 Bomber, sits just outside the city, and you have a place that feels full of patriotic pride.
