Sandpoint, ID has an overwhelming view from the Long Bridge into town with Schweitzer Mountains creating the backdrop and Lake Pend Oreille perfectly supplementing the setting. A 43-mile long, glaciated body of water, Pend Oreille, is the fifth deepest lake in the U.S. with 111 miles of shoreline. Its pristine waters are a major factor in the community of Sandpoint’s high ranking as a premier tourist destination. Visitors can take a ski lift up 6,800 feet for the majestic view or try a boat cruise down below.

The area offers plenty of outdoor activities from skiing and boating to biking or hiking. Attractions include the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market, Silverwood Theme Park, Boulder Beach Waterpark, and Farrugat State Park. Visitors can also enjoy the Bonner County Museum or the Panida Theater.

For avid golfers, Sandpoint is an ideal destination. Sandpoint and the surrounding area boast numerous courses and a wide range of course options. Nearby hotels offer affordable “stay and play” packages.

Sandpoint is a beautiful town surrounded by beautiful nature which is unspoiled by over development. All four seasons are equally beautiful and provide outdoor activities for all, including winter sports at Schweitzer Mountain Resort plus many miles of cross country skiing and snowmobiling. The shoulder seasons and summer provide many rivers and lakes for rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping. There are many arts throughout the year including the famous Sandpoint Music Festival on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. Driving across the Long Bridge into town from the south will feast your eyes on the magnificent lake and the ski mountain above town.

Sandpoint is a wonderful place to live! I came here in 1968, from California to raise my son in a small town and we're still here. Lake Pend Oreille and skiing at Schweitzer, hunting, fishing and all kinds of outdoor recreation in four seasons make it a great place. We have everything from theater, all sorts of concerts from Blue Grass and Symphony to Opera and yet we're close to Spokane for Off Broadway and Spokane International Airport should we want to venture out. Once you've visited Sandpoint, you will return!

There is no place on earth more beautiful than Sandpoint in the summer. August is bliss! Lake Pend Oreille is warm and wonderful, the trees are in full summer glory, the air is pure and clean and the temperature is perfect.
