I have lived in Jonesborough for 20 years downtown on Main Street. I live one block from the Courthouse. Our town is not only patriotic but so "small town America". We love our town, our community and we care about each other.

My family has lived in and around the Jonesborough area since 1922. We are proud as can be of the patriotic pride shown by so many folks all around our fair town. I have served on our parks and recreation services in the past and took a great deal of satisfaction in hanging flags throughout the town not only on the 4th of July ! We have a wonderful Veterans Memorial at the Visitors Center where there is a beautiful fountain as well as many bricks with our military loved ones names inscribed thereon. I love our town and am happy to live here the rest of my days. We are always happy to have new folks move into our area and infuse it with their new ideas and great outlook too !

I'm a new resident near the Jonesborough area from south FL. Jonesborough is one of my favorite areas to visit and to bring my guests from Miami. Jonesborough is TN's oldest town and it captures the essence of an American town by it's decor, it's historical value, and it's atmosphere with it's residents. I walk on the streets and people know my name and say Hi, because it's a small town where people know you're name, not many places can say that.

I moved back to the area after a 20 year absence, and am glad every day that I did. Jonesborough is a wonderful town, with an amazing sense of community and national pride. The folks are friendly, its historical and picturesque, it's just an awesome place all-around!

Patriotism runs deep in Jonesborough! Founded before Tennessee was a state, the town played an interesting role in our country's westward expansion. It was the capital of the proposed new state of Franklin, was a center for the abolitionist movement ("The Emancipator" was published here), and hosted colorful characters like Andrew Jackson, Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett among others. Today Jonesborough is known for its significant preservation efforts, respecting the history of its built environment. This is further enhanced by the International Storytelling Festival which keeps history alive and flowing from one generation to the next. What better way to be truly patriotic than by embracing the rich heritage of America through both physical places and the stories that go along with them.
