1 Votes - "Most Patriotic"

Emporia, KS prides itself in founding Veterans Day, which they celebrate with a full week of festivities. Locals support the troops and celebrate America with events and fundraisers year round. Emporia is located between Kansas City and Wichita on Interstate 35.

Tour the All Veterans Memorial and Park, which honors all who have served our country in every branch of the military. The town also offers other memorials, the Lyon County Museum, the Schmidt Museum of Natural History, and the David Traylor Zoo. An aquatic center and 18 parks in Emporia will please the active traveler.

Emporia State University draws students from far and wide and provides a museum of its own and competitive athletics. Emporia’s also home to the National Teacher’s Hall of Fame and the William Allen White residence, a favorite place for visitors to stay.

Food is a highlight here, with many restaurants where the people are friendly and the owners are often hands-on, doing everything from bussing tables to manning the grill. Try the enchiladas at Casa Ramos, the giant sandwiches at Amanda’s Bakery and Café, the juicy and cheap burgers at J’s Burgers, or the mouthwatering ribs at Bobby D’s BBQ.

True spirit of America. Whenever someone is in need, the people here step up big time to help out. Veteran's Day parade, July 4th parade, Christmas parade, patriotic paintings on downtown buildings, flags out in droves at the cemeteries on Memorial Day, an amazing Veteran's Memorial park -all makes for a patriotic community

Emporia is my college town. Not only does Emporia State University train some of the best teachers in the nation, the town oozes patriotism. Many US presidents have visited Emporia and stayed at the William Allen White residence, which is open to visitors daily. Also, the city founded Veteran's Day, which is marked with a variety of festivities every year.
