Known as both the Gateway to the Sequoias and the Jewel of the Valley, Visalia lies in the center of the San Joaquin Valley nearby both Sequoia and King’s Canyon National Parks. The location is perfect for every variety of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, golfing, camping, fishing, boating, or skiing.

Visalia boasts something for everyone from the Tulare County Symphony in the Fox Theatre to a Rawhide baseball game at Recreation Park. With 50 murals around town, Visalia embraces local art. The town hosts an annual spoof called Sofa Art, an Arts Market, a “Trash to Fashion” Earth Day fashion show, and exhibits throughout local businesses.

Visitors can take the free trolley down Main Street to some of the highly acclaimed restaurants including Alejandra’s, Figaro’s, Vintage Press, and Jack and Charlie’s. Locals also boast of great produce from farmer’s markets to fruit stands and cheese farms. Visalia’s known for world famous sweet oranges and offers varied agriculturally themed tours.

Visalia is a wonderful place for great food! I grew up there and was lucky to get to try so much of it! Even when I go back to visit, there are definitely some hot spots that I try to hit up. Taylors Hot Dogs can not be beat and is a Visalia staple! The Vintage Press is the best for fine dining. Valhalas serves the best, authentic breakfast. And there are about a dozen amazing Mexican food restaurants. You can't beat the food there!

I practically grew up in Visaila and despite traveling across the US and the World, Visalia has some fantastic, great places for food - good, consistent, friendly. Vintage Press is the tops. Depot delivers the best Shrimp Scampi. Taylor's hotdog is the only place to go outside of a ballpark for dogs.

Food goes better with SCOTCH! Jack and Charlies brings world class experts to match appropriate scotch with incredible meal selections. The meals are always top tier. Of note, Visalia in Tulare county is in the heart of the USA's most fertile farmland. Largest milk producing county in USA. Local High school has the LARGEST FFA chapter in US! We take our food, its safe production and the importance of linking consumers with their farm producers VERY SERIOUSLY!! We are ALL what we eat.The best from Visalia and Tulare county!! The secret to great local cuisine is the chef meets local farmers at the back door daily, picks the freshly harvested bounty of the county and "on the table" for Noon and evening menus! The best dining on this planet!!

I was born and raised in Visalia but spent much of my adult years living in big cities. After coming to my senses, I returned to Visalia. It has everything. A short trip to the mountains and lakes, a beautiful/cozy downtown and restaurants to die for. I particularly love Jack and Charlie's with its beef straganoff with filet mignon and an incredibly moist and tasty sea bass. My first of caviar came from Jack and Charlie's!! I can't say enough about the good living and good eating in Visalia.
