Description

This college town in the Flint Hills is the home of Kansas State University, founded as the Kansas Agricultural College in 1863. The city's historic homes and structures include Goodnow House, an idiosyncratic home owned by educator Isaac Goodnow, Wolf House, a stone house originally built in 1868, and the 1916 pioneer log cabin in City Park. You can also visit Sunset Zoo which features over 300 animals in African and North American settings. Southwest of the city, the Konza Prairie, a living research center of native tallgrass owned by the Nature Conservancy, offers hiking trails of three, five, and six miles. The fishing is excellent at Tuttle Creek Lake to the north.

Manhattan has so much to do! From the Konza Prairie to the Splash Park and everything in between. There are kid-friendly activities for little to no cost (always a plus!). And then there are all the activities at K-State--incredible performances at McCain Auditorium, football games, baseball games, you name it. Manhattan is just a fun place to be!

I grew up in Manhattan- and chose to stay here! I love the natural beauty of Manhattan, the friendly people, the great variety of events, shopping, concerts and more. Travel is great, but there's no place like home :)

Manhattan is located next to Tuttle Creek Lake. There is boating, swimming, fishing, camping, and most any water sport you want. The lake is beautiful, as is the surrounding area. The Konza Prairie and the Flint Hills are a sight to see. When we moved to Manhattan, we thought it was going to be flat. We were truly surprised at the beauty surrounding Manhattan, KS!

Manhattan is a fantastic town for any visitor. The people are friendly, the town in beautiful, and it is a great place to find locally produced foods, and interesting craft cocktails. Don't miss 4 Olives Wine Bar.
