Description

Lewiston’s proximity to Niagara Falls in the Niagara River region makes for a mix of outdoor recreation, history, shopping and food and wine. While a trip to the falls is a must, the Niagara River provides the perfect setting for picnicking, hiking and white water rafting. Visitors often come to boat and fish as well, with biking, cross-country skiing, Frisbee golf and swimming also available.

At Niagara Falls take a boat tour on the famed Maid of the Mist or aim for an aerial view with a helicopter ride. Then head to the Niagara County Wine Trail where over a dozen wineries offer tours, tastings and year round events. Visit in July for the Annual Wine and Culinary Festival or September for Harvest Fest, amongst others.

Lewiston has a rich history for its role in the War of 1812 and the Underground Railroad. Tour Old Fort Niagara or The Lewiston Museum to go back in time, or visit one of three local theatres and Artpark in the summers for entertainment and creativity showcased. Our Lady of Fatima Shrine is another cultural attraction with scenic and spiritual significance.

Most importantly, Lewiston’s dining is enough of a draw on its own. Our team’s favorite stops included Orange Cat Coffee Company, Tommy George’s Village Coffee House, Mangia Café and Bakery, Village Bake Shoppe, Brickyard, Apple Granny, Hibbard’s Custard, Macri’s Italian Garden and six other fantastic finds. See where locals love to eat in Lewiston’s reviews.

There is nothing like Lewiston for some of the best food in the country...Apple Grannys, Tin Pan Alley, Brickyard, DiCammilo's bakery , Silo.We make it a point to get to all of them when we come back to visit.

Tremendous food, both in quality and variety. From steaks at Carmello's to Italian at Casa, casual (Brickyard BBQ), pizza (Favorites, Trusello's), and bread (DiCamillo's) Bakery. The best is available in Lewiston!

Fantastic destination for the Best Baked Wings at the Brickhouse. They are addictive! The ride up to Lewiston is one of my favorites with my friends, on our way to Beautiful Artpark where we can hike by day, listen to top Musicians all summer long and enjoy wings on the patio at the Brickyard. Lewiston has extended summer joy beyond all expectations. A most thrilling destination by motorcycle as well!

I was born and raised in Lewiston. Artpark was my playground. It inspired the artist in me. We went out once a week for dinner so I require Applegranny's chicken wings and Hibbards custard on a regular basis even to this day. When I return home to visit (which I do quite often) I am often surprised by something new. At first I lamented the demise of the Frontier House McDonalds, but that was overtaken by my love of Askhar's wrap sandwiches. So what if there is more traffic, there is Orange Cat Coffee! I adore that the town is even more pedestrian friendly and has more visitors than ever thanks to Artpark's concert series, the Jazz Festival and the Art Festival. People come to Lewiston more often now and its not just a stop once a year for the Peach Festival. So much to do, so much to savour and enjoy. I still relax by the river, wander the trails in the gorge but there is so much more waiting to do after that! I must admit, I am jealous of the kids growing up NOW in Lewiston!
