Description

Rapid City, SD hosts both Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial, two must-see national landmarks. The town is as beautiful as it is patriotic, surrounded by the Black Hills, and is the home of Ellsworth AFB.

For a combination of history and beauty take in the scenery on Skyline Drive and visit the Berlin Wall exhibit, the Chapel in the Hills, the Badlands, and bronze statues of all of America’s presidents.

Visitors should take advantage of Downtown Rapid City. In addition to shopping and dining, the area is the Black Hills’ hub for local and regional art. Museums, numerous galleries, and a historic theatre are all located within a few blocks of each other downtown.

I have lived in Rapid City for 17 years and absolutely love it. We have beautiful paths that follow along Rapid Creek. It is great for walking, biking and hanging out. We are on the east side of the Black Hills so the views are spectacular. Our downtown district has many activities for families, including Summer Nights on Thursdays during the summer. There is so much to do all year round. We have great events at our Civic Center, from Broadway Plays, concerts, rodeos, and more. You can fish in the creek, hike, bike, shop, go to concerts, plays, we have it all! The people are friendly and the area is beautiful.

Rapid City is absolutely one of the most beautiful cities in America! Clean, easy to find your way around, with lots of great: attractions, shopping, hotels, restaurants & most importantly - very friendly people! It's the perfect place to stay while visiting the Black Hills and Badlands - affordable too! I don't live too far away and get to enjoy it often... but my family from South Carolina can't wait to come back for another visit.

Fantastic place to visit, especially during the summer. Plenty of area attractions for individuals or families! Some of the best scenery in the Midwest.

I grew up in Rapid, but moved away ten years ago. Not a day goes by that I don't miss the place. Friendliest and most wonderful people you will ever meet. Also, Rapid has so many different ways to visit, with the beautiful Black Hills and beautiful historic downtown district. This place never ceases to amaze!

It is hard to pick just one catagory to vote on. I picked Most Patriotic because of all the things that are related to our Founding Fathers and Presidents. However, there is so much beauty in our city. It is a photographers dream to have so much at the end of our lense. It is a hidden gem, a place that you almost ( I said ALMOST) want to keep hidden from the rest of the world. because of the fact that if too many come it won't be such a secret. Love my town and my area. Much to do and see. People are friendly, the outdoors are literally at your back door to take an adventure in with hiking trails, mountain biking, trail running, bike and strolling paths, creek fishing, great food and so much more!
