Description

Lewiston’s proximity to Niagara Falls in the Niagara River region makes for a mix of outdoor recreation, history, shopping and food and wine. While a trip to the falls is a must, the Niagara River provides the perfect setting for picnicking, hiking and white water rafting. Visitors often come to boat and fish as well, with biking, cross-country skiing, Frisbee golf and swimming also available.

At Niagara Falls take a boat tour on the famed Maid of the Mist or aim for an aerial view with a helicopter ride. Then head to the Niagara County Wine Trail where over a dozen wineries offer tours, tastings and year round events. Visit in July for the Annual Wine and Culinary Festival or September for Harvest Fest, amongst others.

Lewiston has a rich history for its role in the War of 1812 and the Underground Railroad. Tour Old Fort Niagara or The Lewiston Museum to go back in time, or visit one of three local theatres and Artpark in the summers for entertainment and creativity showcased. Our Lady of Fatima Shrine is another cultural attraction with scenic and spiritual significance.

Most importantly, Lewiston’s dining is enough of a draw on its own. Our team’s favorite stops included Orange Cat Coffee Company, Tommy George’s Village Coffee House, Mangia Café and Bakery, Village Bake Shoppe, Brickyard, Apple Granny, Hibbard’s Custard, Macri’s Italian Garden and six other fantastic finds. See where locals love to eat in Lewiston’s reviews.

Lewiston's one square mile depicts the best of Small Town America, while offering over two dozen cafes, restaurants, bakeries and bars. Options range from Italian to Greek to Chinese; Steak House to Fish Fry; Pizzeria to Pub; Coffee House to Wine Bar; as well as Burgers and Ice Cream Shops.

Lewiston has a remarkable variety of restaurants - something for everyone and every mood. Apple Granny's is the comfort food establishment. Having a bad day? Apple Granny's is soothing and comforting. Need something Mediterranen exotic with lovely wine? Try Carmella's. Sometimes only pizza and wings will do. There's the Brick House and Village Pub. If it's summer, Water Street Landing has fresh steamed clams and beer, along with pub grub, mixed drinks, and live jazz music on the shaded patio, overlooking the Jet Boats on the lower Niagara River. The Steelhead Restaurant, with its Irish theme, always has delicious food. The Silo, formerly a real coal silo, has seating surrounding the silo (where the food is prepared) and overlooks the river with a view of Lake Ontario. So - take your choice, depending on your mood. You can't make a bad decision.
