Description

Glenwood Springs is located between the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. It’s the most populated city in Garfield County, Colorado. Visitors come to Glenwood Springs primarily for its well-known medicinal hot sulfur springs. About 160 miles west of Denver, the town is rich with natural history and offers a breathtaking scenic landscape. The city is also home to one of the Colorado Mountain College campuses.

Locals take great pride in one of the town’s most visited hotspots, the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool. Families can enjoy water slides, mini golf, a premier athletic club, and the renovated Spa of the Rockies at the site. Visitors can relish in the relaxation of the centuries-old Yampah Hot Springs, which are historic underground steam baths once used as a source of rejuvenation and healing. Temperatures in the caves can reach up to 112 degrees Fahrenheit.

Outdoor activities at Glenwood Springs are endless: rafting, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, and golf are just a few of the recreational hobbies to take part in. A local community center offers indoor activities such as ice skating and aquatics.

For families with children or antsy teens, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is the place to go. A tram brings tourists to the top of a mountain, where roller coasters, children’s activities, and an observation deck await. A well-known rollercoaster called the Giant Canyon Swing pulls riders over the edge of Glenwood Canyon with a view of the Colorado River.

I love Glenwood Springs. I live about two hours away and love to go up to to Glenwood to have some fun. The hot springs are relaxing and fun for people of all ages and the town is full of life with multiple restaurants to eat at and also have lots of fun things for kids to do.

We moved to Glenwood Springs from Texas in May 08 and this town feels more like home than Texas! The Hot Springs Pool is wonderful, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is always awesome, and the Strawberry Days Festival is something my family looks forward to every year. There's a heap of things to do here...hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, and numerous parks to visit (just to name a few). We love this town and we wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Glenwood Springs is a mecca for adventure travelers as well as families. Hiking Hanging Lake, the Hot Springs Pool, and the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park are must sees. Two thrills I will never forget---a soaring yet serene flight with Glenwood Paragliding and ATVing through beautiful Bair Ranch with Glenwood Adventure Company. Our Glenwood Canyon Rafting trip gave us plenty of excitement, but still made us feel safe in the hands of our experienced (and funny) guide. You can spend as much or as little time and money here as you choose and still have a ball. You can hike, fish, and bike if you're on a tight budget. The shopping is all interesting one-of-a-kind stores in town, but you can pick up necessities at the Target located outside historic downtown. We found good reasonably priced restaurants and friendly locals happy to give you advice on where to go and what to do.

Cave tours are something you can do at the Glenwood Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs. There are stalagmites and stalagtites still growing in the caves. Enjoy the scenic views of Glenwood Springs on top of the mountain at the park.
