Located in San Francisco Bay, the city of Vacaville (sometimes called “Golden Hills”) is about halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco. For tourists, there is plenty to do in this sunny spot. The city holds yearly Vacaville Fiesta Days, which boasts a parade with the local schools’ marching bands, gymnasts, and an electric car showcase.

For more family-friendliness, kids will enjoy The Nut Tree, which is home to a train for children and a life-size checkerboard, with plenty of dining and shopping options for adults. And for the shopping enthusiasts, visitors can visit the Vacaville Premium Outlets for bargains in 120 stores.

Don’t miss Downtown Vacaville, which offers a seasonal farmer’s market, a playground, top-notch dining, and Creekwalk–a venue which often holds concert series.

Christmas-time is a big celebration in Vacaville. The city has an annual Festival of Trees in its local ice-skating rink. Vacaville residents hold the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and enjoy music, hot chocolate, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

For recreation, Lagoon Valley Lake and the Pena Adobe Regional Park are great for fishing, hiking, or just getting some fresh air and beautiful views.

There is always something going on in Vacaville. A lot of events downtown and at the park are free to attend. Just bring your lawn chair and enjoy the entertainment. It has a small town feel while still having all the benefits of a larger town: outlet malls stores, restaruants, etc. and close to San Francisco, Napa, Sacramento, Tahoe, and Reno, to name a few. Its just a fun town aand a nice place to live.

I lived in Vacaville most of my life, but I moved out of town about 10 years ago. I can't tell you how much I miss Vacaville, especially the way it is now. It's a family friendly, low crime city with a small town heart. The Down Town attmosphere has jumped to life with the addition of the Creewalk and Park improvments and the Creekwalk concert series which consist of free Friday evening concerts in Andrews park. The most recent improvents is the Dowtown Square which has been holding so many fun events from a Medival festival to a Blues Festival. Even though thousands show up for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Main Street you call just feel the small town roots. I really hope to move back some day.
