Description
The oldest town in Texas lives by the mantra “Keep Nacogdoches Friendly,” with businesses embracing hospitality training to become Texas Certified Friendly even. The community is so small the mayor is also the local dentist, and everyone’s approachable.
Visitors can explore Millard’s Crossing historic village, Lake Nacogdoches, or Lanana Creek Trail. Most notably, Nacogdoches is home to Stephen F. Austin State University and serves as a warm welcome for students away from home.
Local favorites include the Saturday farmer’s market and The Blueberry Place, where you can pick your own blueberries right off the vine and leave payment in a basket on the honor system. Visitors are encouraged to experience historic local bed and breakfasts, stroll the nature trails, and browse antiques while in town.
Reviews
- Came here over fifteen years ago and love this little town! Lots to do, diversity and tolerance are present here, and there is a good representation of artistic and cultural experiences thru the university. Good healthcare and medical care available and a wide range of opportunities for physical activity. The people are so down to earth and genuine. They are not only friendly, but display a real concern for others. If you need help, they will help you if they can or find someone who can assist you with your problem. The people of Nacogdoches make it what it is and they are the best!

- Small town charm with a major University located in it's center. Only 2 hours from Houston; and 3 hours from Dallas; Nacogdoches is located in the heart of Texas Timber Country.
