Description

Park City, Utah was founded in 1869, originally as a silver-mining town. It only took a few decades for the town’s population to boom to 10,000 residents in the early 1900s. The Park City Museum offers historic walking tours for those interested in the town’s rich mining history. Park City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, where Main Street was the place to be with boundless entertainment. Thousands of locals volunteered to take part in the event.

Recreation-wise, Park City has the basics and more covered. In addition to its several wooded trails, its golf course is consistently ranked as one of the best in the region, while an ice arena and racquet club draws both residents and visitors. Skateboard parks and multi-use recreational parks are also an option.

The spot is also known for the Sundance Film Festival, which has been held in Park City for almost 29 years. This festival takes place every January and lasts for 10 days.

Summers are popular in Park City, when free outdoor concerts are plentiful. There are also international biking competitions in warmer months, as well as a Park City Marathon. Arts and music festivals are great for family-friendly entertainment. No matter the season, the Park City website assures “you’ll never run out of things to do here.”

Why is it part of every everyone of my visits home, hmmm, depending upon the time of year I can snowmobile, snowboard, enjoy the greatest snow on earth for skiing - cross country and downhill, snowshoeing, take horse-drawn sleigh rides. In the warmer months there is hiking, mountain biking, play golf, horseback rides, zip lines, hot air ballons, boating, sailing, fishing. As I've gotten older, I've transitioned into enjoying the arts festivals, outdoor concerts, and great restaurants from hole in the wall type to five star quality . And when the day is done the night life and fireworks will still keep you in town. The best part is that its only 45 minutes from home in Salt Lake City.

Summers in Park City have the most breathtaking views from hiking trails in the mountains. I've never seen a bluer sky, and the vibrant reds, pinks, and oranges of the flowers on the mountainsides make you realize that, wow, places like this really do exist.

Park City is a great place for people of all ages. It has so much to offer for families, outdoor adventures, and people looking to relax. During the winter, Park City offers world class skiing at 3 resorts, and during the summer there are incredible trails for hiking and mountain biking. Main Street offers some of the best restaurants in Utah for dining. During the summer, you can spend all day outdoors including picnicing at the town's free concerts! Perfect weather (mild temps and 0 humidity) make this mountain town one of the best places to visit in the country.

The four season climate is beautiful. Green in the summer, white in the winter and bursting with color in the fall. Cool temperatures in the summer make it a great place to escape the heat with entertainment every night of the week.
