Saugatuck, Michigan is our Lake Michigan jewel. I love this place to get away for a quick get away with very FEW chain hotels. It forces you to take a gamble on some of the friendliest bed & breakfast and small hotel establishments.
The array of art galleries features up and coming artists with plenty of jewels to be found. Highly recommend it!

Settled a mile up the river from the mouth of the Kalamazoo River, this small town is hidden in the valley of the dunes. It is a quiet little town where a community becomes a family. Across the river lays Douglas a quaint "little sister." Their you find an even closer knit community where one can enjoy Thursday night socials in the summer, a large easter parade in the spring, and one of the biggest Halloween Parades a small town and throw in the fall. Visiting these communities is a must for anyone who wants to slow down and escape the rush of City life.

Saugatuck is a small town just off the Lake Michigan shore in southwestern Michigan and is the total opposite of the fast-paced, casino filled towns to the south near the Michigan/Indiana border. This artsy community is surrounded by natural beauty and has a laid-back vibe that is very inviting. The locals are extremely friendly and welcome tourists and visitors to share in the charm of their small town, which is home to Oval Beach, voted one of the best beaches in the state.
