Description

Known as Savannah’s beach, Tybee Island prides itself on a laid-back atmosphere claiming time actually slows down here. Besides plenty of shoreline, the town offers historic lighthouses and forts, beachfront restaurants, art galleries, museums, wildlife and outdoor recreation.

The Tybee Island Light Station and Museum boasts beautiful aerial views of the town after climbing 178 steps to the top and five centuries worth of history in the Battery Garland of Fort Screven, remnants of the Florida War. This attraction is a local landmark and a must-see on any visit.

From the Crab Shack to A-J’s and Fannies on the Beach, indulge in fresh seafood and good times with the local community. Stroll to the Pier & Pavilion for a picnic as well, where you can fish, catch local events and entertainment, or simply take in the view. Other attractions include Cockspur Lighthouse, Forts Pulaski and Screven, and the Marine Science Center.

For recreation, choose from hiking or biking, surfing or paddling, and jet skiing or kayaking. Families will love scenic boat tours for dolphin and wildlife viewing, in addition to bird watching or sea turtle patrols. The are also offers plenty of art, entertainment, shopping and nightlife. See Tybee Island’s reviews for more information.

Love, Love, Love IT!! The lighthouse, the bike trails, the pier! It is all so wonderful. There is nothing better that kayaking or YOLO-ing around the back river and over to little Tybee. This is as beautiful as it gets! Just ask Miley. If you can't find fun, come see me at Beachside Colony! This is the only place I stay and it doesn't get any better. The restaurant at Beachside Colony Resort, Marlin Monroe's, has a deck right on the beach and is perfect anytime of day, especially when the local guitarist, Michael Moody, is playing. All you need to do is sit back and relax.

Tybee Island is small town U.S.A. by the sea, a town of great happy people that know how to live, how to receive friends and tourists, a party that starts every Spring and goes through the Summer, until Fall and Winter bring in "local" time, when tourists are gone and locals dominate the scene until the next St. Patrick's and the start of a new season.
The four years that I lived on Tybee Island were among the happiest in my life. The city and those great times at Hucca Poo's, Scandal's and Tybee Time bars, and of course the Pier and the beach from the Savannah river to the Back river, live in my heart forever. I love you Tybee!!!
