This is one of the MOST INCREDIBLE ice cream shops in the country. It is a small dairy operation with only two locations (Ludington and Manistee, MI) and it offers all home made, delicious flavors. This is the only ice cream shop in the US that offers the famous "Blue Moon" ice cream. Unbelievable!!! It also has many all natural flavors as Michigan Black Cherry, Anniversary Cake. In addition to the ice cream - there is a '50's diner with great food. The place is always busy with a line of folks waiting for the frozen treat that takes a long time to get through. The best part: A double scoop, super giant cone is under $2.00. We were in Ludington a couple summers ago for a week - we ate ice cream 5 nights - and each time for a family of 4 we spent less than 8 bucks. I can't do that anywhere else in the south for under $15-16.
This is as beautiful a state park you will find anywhere in the Great Lakes area. There are tons of camping spaces, some secluded and some not so. Wild life is phenomenal, and the dunes along the west coast of the Michigan shoreline are spectacular. There are two lighhouses to visit, and the park is exceptional year round. It is the #1 park in the midwest. 5300 acres. WOW
I do not have any photos, but the downtown area of Charlotte is quite amazing. There is a spot on North Tryon Street in front of McCormick
