On a road trip around Florida over twenty years ago, thanks to some hotel coupons for the Hilton, we discovered this secret paradise. We've returned ever year since, there's just nowhere else like it, safe and clean with a pristine white sand beach, shops and restaurants to suit everyone's taste. The wildlife is amazing, without even taking to the water you can spot dolphins and manatees from the beach, Caxambas Park or the Marco River. Turtles nest on the beach in the summer months, there are gopher tortoises living in some areas of the island and burrowing owls on vacant lots. Bald eagles and ospreys are residents too and Tigertail Beach is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail with too many species to mention. It would be hard to find all this in such a beautiful setting anywhere else in the United States.
